ABC Christmas

The first challenge of the new blog ABC Christmas went live today. I am late making my card as I have been ill in bed since Xmas eve with a bad cold and suspected pleurasy. Basicallyt he lining between my lungs and ribs became inflamed making it painful to breath and move as all bruised. I ended up at the emergency doctors at 11pm on baxing day as I could not stop wheezing and my inhalour was not helping and the emergency doctor needed to check my chest to make sure it was not pneumonia, so I have spent the last few days in bed, thankfully my husband has been on annual leave to look after the boys.

I could not let Samantha and the rest of the team down after all the hard work that she has put into the new blog, so here is a card from me. It is rather a simple on I am afraid but please forgive me this once.

Hugs, a happy new year to you all xxx

check out the ABC Christmas blog for the winner of my small candy - to be posted in the new year when I am well along with the winners prize from my birthday candy which I have added to as been unable to post with all the family illnesses.

missed challenge cards? - Help

My husbands job means that he is very busy this time of year (especially with all the snow) and has to work from home most evenings on the computer, hence why I have not been around in blog land very much. Here are some cards I have done, that I think I have missed the challenges they were originally intended for, and I have lost the sheet with all my challenges written down. If you see one that fits a new challenge posted before today could you please let me know so that they don't go to waste. thanks xxx

A quick cracked glass card.
A quick card, papers basic grey wassill - adore this pack, image tilda Another cracked glass card.
This was just a play around card - I think it may have been for a Simon Says Challenge
This was the spoonful of sugar last week. Image is Sugar Nellie Snowflake, which has been coloured in copics then I applied clear embossing powder as per Cathy and Rach's tutorials and then cracked it. Papers etc stash.
I think this card was a papertake sketch? Not sure, papers Basic Grey Wassill. Image WOJ.

Tuesday 15 December 2009

It is so cold outside, so I snuggled up in my craft room

This is a lovely Tilda card, the photography does not do it justice, but I don't think it ever got light today! Coloured in distressed inks and mounted onto K and Co Xmas papers, flowers are wild orchard crafts. I have used last weeks (I think) friday sketchers and will be entering this in the following challenges,

  • Just Magnolia - Xmas

A neglected Sugar Nellie Stamp called Snowflake. I have used the sketch from Sketch and Stash this week and my new items are the navy flowers and a new martha stewart boarder punch. Coloured in copics. Papers are last years dovecraft Christmas.
I will enter this card into the following challenges

One of my new birthday stamps, coloured in distressed inks and twinkling H2O's. Mounted on dovecraft papers (rak of Jacqui thanks hun) Pearl Swirl is from prima. Adore these large tea roses from wildorchardcrafts.

Willow in Red

Another commission card - sorry.

I have coloured willow in using copics and mounted her onto an easel card using basic grey wassill pack - I adore this pack. For a bit of difference instead of surrounded her in distressed inks I used a watered down mixture of primrose yellow twinkling H2O's which gives it a beauiful and discrete gold tinge to the paper. The flowers I made up to resemble a bouquet and added a pearl in the middle for depth and then added sparkles to the edges of the flower to resemble dew. I have been doing this for the last few months and love the effect, think I will need to buy some more soon though! The papers have been mounted onto black card stock to create the card as I wanted to keep to a particular pallette and white would have been too harsh. The leaves have been cut out using my favourite fern punch.

I hope you like it

WOJ - sparkle

ABC Sponsored by Wags and Whiskers - new release sneek peek

We are so lucky to be sponsored by Lacey from Wags and Whiskers this week. Not only did she sponsor the challenge but she sent the DT a stamp each of the new collection. There is a blog hop starting on Jacqui's blog - (on sidebar incase link fails, with my pc playing up). Isn't she lush, I don't know what her name is as yet. The theme is J is for jigsaw (incase you haven't guessed) and the papers are basic grey.

Tuesday 8 December 2009

I am hopefully back

My poor computer has been poorly, think it has got the cough the boys have had for nearly 2 months, it is cough cough cough here all night and I can hardly craft.

Yet again I have missed a challenge - this was following last weeks papertake sketch. I adore the card so I may see if there are any challenges that I can enter it for.

This was a commission piece using the WOJ sketch unfortunately the light is not great. It is an easel card.

I hope you like and I know we are all busy so don't comment unless you have the time

Putting together a new, just for fun, challenge blog

Here is a new challenge blog I am putting together, if anyone is interested just leave a comment on the blog. It is just for fun, there will be no prizes, all entries including design team pieces can be entered for other challenges and commenting is not compulsory.

The idea is one image that everyone uses and one pad of paper. It would be facinating to see different styles and uses of the papers.

I don't think there is another challenge like this out there.

Hugs Vicky x

Better late than never

This is the card that I made for the ABC H is for Hidden Message.

The paper is K and Co and is the hidden meanings of Flowers and the tag is from K and Co too. The image has been coloured using distressed inks and I have faux stitched the papers.

Thank you for the messages people have left me, I have had a crazy fortnight. We have lost a family friend, another friend has been seriously ill in hospital and is now awaiting a transplant. I found a lump and as my mother died of breast cancer I flipped, luckily all is ok and just glandular. Due to the stupid cold getting on my chest I have just finished my 2nd course on anti biotics in three weeks and to top the lot both of the boys are still ill - argh!

So if my commenting and cards are sporadic I apologise.

Currently on my desk and Spread the love blog hop.

Firstly can I tell you about a special blog hop that is going on. This information has been taken from Katharina's blog where the hop starts.

"On October 4th, 4 teenagers armed with knives broke into a home in a small town in New Hampshire. Alone and sleeping inside were a mother and her 11 year old daughter. These 4 boys broke into this home with the intent to rob and kill anyone inside. They stabbed the mom, Kimberly Cates, to death and left her daughter, Jaimie, for dead in their driveway. It was a completely random act, their home was chosen only due to its secluded surroundings."

There are over 60 hoppers all offering candy and in return they ask that you take the time to send a card or a gift you created to the following address -

Jaimie Cates
c/o Mont Vernon Fire Station
Main Street
Mont Vernon, NH 03057
United States

Thank you. I am sending the blue card on this post and also a small gift.

ok onto the cards!

This card has been made for the following challenges

  • just magnolia - monocrome
  • simon says - all that sparkles
  • spoonful of sugar - sketch

This card actually started of for last weeks spoonful of sugar theme of food and eating! The top part of tilda is masked and then mounted onto the ribbon and bottom half of the plate. She has been coloured in copics and the paper is basic grey lily kate. The swirls have been stamped and then I have added the gems.

I hope you like it.

This card is cute card thurdays entry for the theme drink. I have made a male card but I feel that there is something missing, a sentiment is needed but I cannot come up with one at present. I think I will wait and see whom I send the card too. The stamp is a hanglar image from heidi and papers are basic grey boxer.

These two cards are missed challenges that I thought I would show you. I am not going to say which but I bet you can guess, both seem like there is something missing but I am not sure what I am open to suggestions.

ABC G is for

Green!

I have had so much difficulty uploading this card, it disappeared of the original post on ABC and my blogger is being such a nightmare that I am currently playing on wordpress to see if any better. Everytime I have tried to comment I am getting horrendous error messages on some of the blogs due to widgets etc that they have added or the backgrounds. I have tried firefox instead of ie but not sure about it as all my bookmarks then disappear. So sorry if I did not comment on your post but the error messages kept closing my browsers.

This card is made from a rak image of Jayne, I really must get this stamp as it is so lush, coloured in 5 different shades of green with my promarkers. I have done blonde hair for the first time, think it looks ok. Papers are basic grey boxer a long neglected pad which i suddenly remembered had some lush green papers in unused. The flowers are wild orchard craft. Hope you like it, hugs xxx

Antique Sunshine and Apples

I simply adore Belles n Whistles Stamps and have so many of them on my birthday wish list lol! This image was a rak of Jayne again and coloured in distressed inks. The papers are a loose 12x12 I had a scrap of on my desk and the brown I think is part of a MME pack which was a loose sheet too. I have distressed the paper slightly by using just ink and not torn for once and the papers have been handsewn in brown thread. I have also stamped a bronze swirl onto the paper that you can just see in the photo but in the light it glistens lovely. The flowers have not been splitzed for once as I wanted an antique feel to the card and leaves didn't work. I added a ribbon instead of the sentiment in the sketch as I could not decide which sentiment fitted the card from my stash. I hope you like it.

challenge - spoonful of sugar

Please note I have added another item to my candy!

Sisters in pink and grey

This beautiful image was a rak of Jayne. Coloured in copics following the sketch from sketch saturday this week. Papers are MME Asparagus.

Here is one of the pages from my sisters scrapbook I am making for her on the birth of her daughter. Emily is doing really well thank you, she is off the antibiotics and was allowed home last night we all sighed a huge sigh of relief I can tell you.

I have left space for my sister to add either a picture or a little memory, i want it to be something they add too rather than it all being there to begin with.

I hope you like it.

Close up of the image.
coloured in copics then stamped around with swirls which I have heat embossed. Paper is DCWV Once upon a time and the flowers are the new prima paintly hydrangas.

Card for Alison

I hope I am not too late, having a crazy week here, have missed so many challenges and deadlines, my reason my sister gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on Thursday, but the poor thing wasn't well and was on high dose iv anti biotics so the whole family have been so worried and I have spent all the time by the phone and my brain too frazzelled and worried to craft.

Here is the card I have made for the WOJ Illustrator Allison using the passion for promarkers sketch (promarkers have been used), I hope she and you like it. Papers are basic grey wisteria.

Confirmation Melinda

I was asked to make a confirmation card and well there is only one stamp to use confirmation Melinda.
She has been coloured in copics and then mounted on to papers from the DCWV once upona time range and then cut out with oval nesties and surrounded by lots of flowers, i wish you could see all the glimmer mist on them.

Snowflake and Willow

Gosh it is so dark today isn't it. This was the best I could get with these cards and you can't see all the highlights in the hair, has anyone got any tips please on how to photograph in poor light?

This card is for 2 challenges, I have reused the fab sketch on WOJ to make a card for my sister whose first baby is due today! She doesn't know what she is having so I have used a yellow and green pallett and made it sparkly as she loves bling. I have added stickles to already glimmer misted roses for extra sparkle. The image I made to look like a cameo as our mother adored these to make the card extra special for her. I am just annoyed that the poor lighting cannot pick out my shading as I am so pleased with it.

challenges -
WOJ - sketch
Cute card Thursday - 1sts

eta - I can't even take another photo of it as my Dad took one look at it and has taken it home with him, right need to make George another one now!

Fantastic sketch on the sugar bowl this week, with the added theme of paper piercing, I must admit I have made a few cards like this as it is fab in different colour schemes. I coloured the flower with my copics as I didn't have the shade I wanted, think it looks ok.

challenge - sugar bowl.

The boys play Simon Says

Hi
As it is world card making day I thought I would let the boys both have a play with some of my stash. I cut the paper and glued it on but they did the rest themselves (sorry not letting a just turned 2 last week and a 3 1/2 year old near the guillotine).

Ed wanted 2 papers which he chose himself and then stuck them on to the card with a bit of help. He coloured the image himself then stuck the flowers and the gems (the roses have a sticky pad underneath), he wanted to put ribbon on but it would not stick for him.

Henry coloured the image and had great fun sticking the flowers and gems on the image and paper. He choose the backing sheet himself from my loose sheets.

I will do my own card tonight and will post on later and then we will be sending all 3 off to Paige.

Thank you for looking and the boys would love any comments that you have to make, although I will have to read them out to them.

hugs Vicky x
